Weekend is here, and you know what that means! We already know how to prepare our hair for installing braids and other protective styles, and how to care for the hair while its in braids or other PS but do we know how to take them down without breakage?
Be sure to share your tips with me below!
The first step when taking down braids is
✂Step 1: Cutting:
you have to cut the extensions off. You should have a general idea of how long your hair is so that you know where your natural ends are. To be on the safe side, cut about two inches below where you believe your hair ends. Cut one braid at a time instead of grabbing a handful and hacking away so you don’t cut your hair.
Step 2: Dampen your hair ❌❌THIS IS A MUST Since kinky hair is tightly coiled, wetting your hair will loosen it up a bit. I like to spritz my hair with a detangling spray containing water, oil and conditioner before beginning. You can also oil individual braids to make the task easier
Step 3: Add Conditioner/Detangle.
After taking down a good amount of braids, add a detangler (a good option is TEN-Q MOISTURIZING AND DETANGLING LEAVE IN CONDITIONER)and finger detangle it. ❌❌ do not use comb. Chances are you’ve had the braids on for long and your hair is tangled up real bad underneath. Combs will make the tangles and knots snap and break. With your fingers you can feel each knot and unravel it gently you can then use comb(optional). Work in sections.
Once that’s completed give your hair a treat. Do your hot oil treatment and prepoo(YOU CAN PREPOO WITH TEN-Q HAIR GROWTH BOOSTER BUTTER- JUST WARM UP LITTLE AMOUNT!!). Shampoo (you can use TEN-Q HERBAL HAIR SHAMPOO FOR AMAZING RESULTS then deep condition. Easy enough, right?
