International Day of Happiness is today, Wednesday, March 20th, 2019. It’s a day to be happy, of course! Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness … Finland takes the first position since 2018 as the happiest country in the world.
Not only does it have a capital city bursting with gastronomic creativity, the spectacular Northern Lights and Santa Claus’s year-round home (plus the reindeer support staff) in Lapland. It’s followed by Denmark, Norway, Iceland and The Netherlands.
So what really makes people happy? If you look closely at the above 5 countries there are some basic things that they have in common, they are all Nordic countries in Northern Europe.
The Nordic countries or the Nordics are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic, where they are most commonly known as Norden (literally “the North”). This year’s report had a special focus on “happiness and the community”, considering factors such as social media and technology, social norms, conflicts and government policies.
These countries also boast of the best quality of life, good jobs/employment, healthcare, good education, safe and conducive environment etc. Netherlands — This country boasts one of the highest literacy rates in the world.
Nigeria ranked 85th from 91st last year according to the report which indicates we are happier than last year.. So what has changed from last year till now with you? Are you happier now compared to last year.
With a failed system in Health, education sectors and employment issues am still amazed how Nigerians are still happy compared with some other countries who are not in our present state.
I guess there are some other factors that contribute towards our happiness …. i really would like to know what happiness means to you and what makes you happy as a person. Do share in our comment section and we can discuss more on this,
Be happy Always, do what makes you happy and be where you find happiness!
Happy World Happiness Day !
